Voting has just begun for the Green Giant Green Awards.  Will Allen is competing against 83 fellow green entrepreneurs for a $25,000 prize.  We’re here to drum up support for his campaign.  Why?  Because Will’s the most innovative and successful green entrepreneur we know.  Each year, Will and Growing Power grow over 150 types of vegetables and raise tilapia and yellow perch to feed over 10,000 people. The organization trains farmers in sustainable farming techniques and works with Milwaukee-are youth, teaching them about business management and growing food. Will can frequently be heard saying, “We’re grow a lot of food, and we grow community, too.”

If he wins, the prize money will support Growing Power’s work here in Milwaukee. A portion of the prize will also go to the “Growing Capacity for the Green Economy” initiative, a joint project of Growing Power and the City of Milwaukee to employ 150 African American adults in living wage jobs.
